Who are we?
Our membership consists of men and women of all ages - including whole families. It doesn't matter whether you use a cheap point & shoot or the latest high end camera. We welcome people of all abilities and aspirations. If you just want to share your pictures of your holidays, the dog or even your garden fence it's fine by us.
We are keen to encourage new members, especially those who are trying to learn about photography. If you have a question about any aspect of photography all you need to do is ask! If the person you ask doesn't know they will probably know someone who does.
What do we do?
Between September and the end of May, we have weekly meetings at our clubroom. Topics include:
- guest speakers showing their work
- practical photography sessions
- travelling exhibitions
- talks and demonstrations by our members
- competitions
We also organise trips to places with photographic potential!
Are you competitive?
We organise Club competitions throughout the year. These are very popular with our members and are keenly contested! We encourage members to have a go, but there is no obligation - you can just enjoy seeing other people's work.
We enter inter-club competitions through our affiliation with The Western Counties Photographic Federation (WCPF).
What about equipment?
The club has a high-grade digital projector and a laptop computer loaded with a selection of digital imaging software, thanks to an "Awards for All" lottery grant.
Members have access to a range of equipment for free loan, including:
- monitor calibrator - essential if you want to work with digital images on your computer!
- Arctic Butterfly sensor cleaner for digital SLR cameras
- studio flash kit with backdrop
We have a good selection of books and magazines relating to photography which anyone can borrow.
